And when used in Thai chicken soup and Thai chicken curry, the results weren’t acceptable. The accumulations of protein speckled the dishes. And both lacked the rich viscosity when compared to unbroken coconut milk samples.
But, we discovered a simple fix: blend the defrosted coconut milk with an immersion blender for approximately 30 seconds to re-emulsify. Only then can you TRULY enjoy it in your meal.
When we did this, the curries were as good as those made with just-opened cans.
So Yes! You can preserve your Coconut milk for up to two months and revert it with this blending tactic.
Also, you might be wondering if there is any need to freeze canned coconut milk.
Well, there isn’t!
Since an unopened can of coconut milk can last for years, there’s no point in freezing them.

How To Freeze Coconut Milk [The simplest yet effectively formula]
Method 1: Freeze canned Coconut Milk in Containers
Pour the milk into containers. Endeavor toleave some head-space, as the milk will raise when freezing.
You can choose to label the containers with name and date if need be.
And lastly, put the containers into the freezer.
That’s it. As easy as A, B, C… The whole process shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.
Mind you; this freezing method works if you don’t have to worry about portions and size after thawing.
However, if you are, go for method two below.
Method 2: Freeze canned Coconut Milk in cube trays
Prepare the ice cube trays. I recommend using ice cube trays instead of the bags, as they are reusable and more environment-friendly.
Pour the coconut milk into the trays.
Put the trays into the freezer and keep them there until the coconut milk cubes are frozen. It takes about 3 to 5 hours to freeze completely, depending on the size.
Transfer the cubes to freezer bags or containers. Now you can easily scoop a few cubes to add to your recipe or thaw a bunch of them for a smoothie.
